About

Ryan Fitzgibbon

Communications Co-Chair

Ryan Fitzgibbon is a Communication Designer at IDEO. With an aptitude for strategic design and information visualization, his ability to communicate both ideas and data is a valuable asset throughout all phases of the IDEO process.

Prior to IDEO, Ryan lived in Grand Rapids, MI where he was a contributing designer at People Design, a leading experience design firm in Michigan composed of strategists, designers, developers, and writers. While there, he also earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Grand Valley State University.

In 2008, he founded the student affiliate group of AIGA at his University. During his term as President in the subsequent two years of school, he participated in the formation of the professional chapter, AIGA West Michigan.

Since his transition to San Francisco, he remains an active member of AIGA, and in October 2009 was selected to participate in the mock-reality show, Command X. He went head-to-head with six other graphic designers, executing quick fire challenges in front of 2,000 attendees at the national conference in Memphis, TN. He walked away with second place and a refreshing perspective on his own design process.

As Communications Co-Chair, Ryan hopes to leverage social media platforms to connect the members of AIGA San Francisco to local and national conversations about design in increasingly personal and relevant ways.
